Our Journey

Two Decades of Dedicated Service

From humble beginnings to regional leadership

SFON was founded in 2001 by a group of visionary oncologists who recognized the need for a unified platform to address the growing challenge of cancer in the SAARC region. What started as a small group of dedicated professionals has grown into a robust organization with far-reaching impact.

2001 - SFON Established

SAARC Federation of Oncologists-Nepal was founded, marking the beginning of regional collaboration in oncology.

2003 - SFO International Conference

SFON organized the first international conference, bringing together oncologists from across the SAARC region.

2003 - 1st National Conference

SFON's first national conference was held at Bharatpur, Nepal, establishing the foundation for national oncology collaboration.

2013 Dec - SFO International Conference

International conference organized at Radisson Hotel, showcasing SFON's growing influence in regional oncology.

2014 - International Conference

International conference held at Gokarna Forest Resort, continuing SFON's tradition of excellence in oncology education.

2017 - SFO Conference

Conference organized by BPKMCH Bharatpur, demonstrating SFON's commitment to institutional partnerships.

2019 - SFON International Conference

2001-2009 - Dr. Madan K Piya

Founding President who established SFON and laid the foundation for regional collaboration in oncology care across the SAARC region.

2014-2018 - Dr. Gisupnikha Prasiko
